How it was...

Since being back we have had a lot of people asking us to sum up our journey and say how it all went...

So Rosie sat down and jotted down all the little things.

Hope you enjoy...

Simplicity

Making each day out of the moments, knowing each day must be filled with moments choosing to fill these moments,

Waking up in the woods far from anywhere,

The kaleidoscope of trees, never ending, surrounding,

Trying to fathom the vulture’s mindset

Hitting 40mph.

Being outside of myself

Focusing, letting go and pursing

Allowing the repetitive, dull, mundane become something more.

Pushing on through the rain,

The light at the end of a long tunnel,

Singing until you can’t remember the words

Hearing new sounds and marvelling at the boars angry grunts at five in the morning,

Watching the mountains disappear.

Uncovering new landscapes and having new eyes,

Forgetting how to be socially acceptable when going through civilised places.

Falling over... collapsing

Disbelief

Watching the shadows move inch by inch around your bike frame

Seeing how the sun makes the world awaken

Hearing the birds

To know the wind

To battle with the elements

To shout along with the thunder

Watching the road disappear

To be content with my weaknesses

Laughing at the little things

Losing all inhabitation

Learning to see problems as a chance to find solutions

To feel complete and utter exhaustion, tired and worn out

To speak to the part of you that wants to stop.

To remember

Finding that feeling that you have nothing left

Then going further than you’ve ever been,

Knowing it’s about turning up at the end together, whatever it takes!

Smelling the uniqueness of each valley and knowing the labour of love found in each field,

Watching the water change colour as you shower,

Not knowing where you will sleep,

Knowing no one can take this away from you

To be alive, with an uncontrollable sense of awe

Why me? What a privilege!!

To realise it wouldn’t make a difference to have trained harder the only thing pushing me on is inside,

Finding passion, knowing purpose, feeling peace

To feel small and weak, knowing fear,

Wanting the moment to last forever,

Making decisions and following them.

Realising that rain isn’t so bad, only the first few seconds,

Undoing the social laws, forgetting the rules,

Thinking the lorry drivers beeping is a polite gesture, no matter what, smiling and waving,

Knowing the effect of food, to feel hungry and need water,

Sheer delight at the sight of a convinient store.

To stand in the rain and laugh

To be ok with feeling like a fool

When storms close in, that feeling like standing at the foot of a big bear and looking up,

Wondering if the ruins where once filled with life,

Feeling insignificant

Air punching

To completely trust

Knowing pain is temporary

To have ambition

Just wanting to jump in

The views

Being on the edge

Laughing again!

Being sprayed from all directions,

Preparing yourself for the back wind from the lorry that just past, 1,2,3... hold on,

Knowing you would much rather ride than drive

Trying to find a convenient bush and holding on,

Looking for home for the night

Watching the deer’s, stealthily pass your tent.

Uncertainty

Slogging on to the end, then other days just flying

Rising with the clouds, through the clouds then out the clouds

Imagining the views, enjoying the clouds that cover them

Watching the world pass by

Knowing your not on your own

Jumping into unknown waters

Wringing out clothes.

Drifting along

Getting into a car at the end and feeling like a child again.

Cycling is a way of life at times it can be repetitive but its the moments in-between that make the journey what it is...

I ride my bike

I don’t see myself as a tourer

Just a simple mind

I pedal
